- Libby Hill Park - 2801 E. Franklin St., Richmond, VA 23223
The iconic view from Libby Hill Park, one of three original parks in RVA's park system, is more than just scenic. It's part of the city's lore as the source of Richmond's name. On a day in 1737, as city founder William Byrd II looked out across the vista from the hill, it reminded him of Richmond upon Thames, a district in London where Byrd had gone to school. Libby Hill Park, which has been named a National Historic Landmark, is a favorite gathering spot and a delightful backdrop for activities as varied as weddings, yoga sessions, and kid's play. Park hours are 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily.
